Team members of N3B Los Alamos were pleased to present a check for $12,740 to local non-profit organization LA Cares this week in support of Los Alamos County residents who need food and financial assistance.
The funds were raised at N3B’s annual charity event, the Danny Nichols Golf and Cornhole Tournament, which took place at Los Alamos County Golf Course on June 24 — an event planned and coordinated by N3B employees using volunteer hours.
More than 100 employees, friends, family members and sponsors participated in the two events, filling 21 golfing foursomes and 16 two-person cornhole teams.
Company employees, vendors and subcontractors provided additional financial support, including platinum level sponsors Tech2 Solutions and Longenecker & Associates — both N3B critical subcontractors — and gold level sponsors Waste Control Specialists, Raks Building Supply, Los Alamos Technical Associates and Most Wanted Landscaping.
“This was the third year we’ve hosted a golf tournament to support LA Cares and it was the most successful one yet,” said Debby Holgerson, N3B’s executive manager and tournament director. “Adding the cornhole tournament this year made it possible for even more staff to be involved.”
N3B President Kim Lebak and Vice President and Executive Officer Joe Legare actively participated in the event as well.
“We value our relationship with LA Cares and it’s our privilege to support the critical work they do in our community,” Lebak said.
Lyn Haval, president of LA Cares, along with several of her board members, also joined the participants for lunch that day.
“We’re very grateful to the event sponsors and the employees of N3B,” Haval said. “This contribution makes a major difference in our ability to provide healthy food to our client families and help many others who are struggling to make utility and rent payments.”
The annual LA Cares fundraising event is just one way N3B supports local organizations across Northern New Mexico.
N3B has made a commitment to provide five percent of its earned fee over the life of the Los Alamos Legacy Cleanup Contract to workforce development and nonprofit community organizations in Northern New Mexico. N3B’s Community Commitment program focuses on education, health and human services, arts and culture and civic and community giving.
