LATA Receives Multiple Awards

Albuquerque, NM, September 2020 – LATA has received several significant awards in the last month, successfully meeting the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic while continuing important work for our clients.

LATA Expands its Footprint with D0D: The United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Southwest Division (Tulsa District) has awarded Los Alamos Technical Associates, Inc. (LATA) the Texas-Louisiana Optimized Remediation Contract (ORC). As the prime contractor, LATA will lead environmental remediation at 98 sites within Barksdale Air Force Base (AFB), Dyess AFB, Goodfellow AFB, Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA) Camp Bullis, JBSA Fort Sam Houston, JBSA Lackland AFB, JBSA Randolph AFB, Laughlin AFB, and Sheppard AFB. The scope includes investigation, design, remedial action, remedial construction, remediation, and long term management activities to support performance objectives that advance or complete site cleanup during the 10-year contract period of performance. LATA’s exceptional performance on the Texas Bases Performance Based Remediation contract, coupled with its approach to achieving substantial reduction of long-term environmental liabilities and total life cycle for the Air Force were the primary contributors to LATA receiving this award. In addition, as a joint venture partner, LATA received two additional DoD contracts, the Great Lakes Optimized Remediation Contract, where LATA will lead environmental remediation at Wright-Patterson AFB and Air Force Plant 85 in Ohio and the BRAC Environmental Construction and Optimization Services (BECOS) Midwest contract where LATA will provide environmental construction and optimization services at BRAC bases in Illinois and Ohio.

LATA Awarded Additional Work At Pantex: LATA was recently awarded a task order for design modification and installation of infrastructure for remedial action at the Pantex Plant in Carson County, TX. LATA will provide design and construction of a modified in-situ bioremediation (ISB) equipment pad, well pump/motors, piping, controls, power drops, an overhead electrical transmission & transformation line for Southeast ISB Extension System, and light and heavy duty roads. LATA is currently completing design and installation oversight for three new injection wells including instrumentation and controls for the Southeast Pump and Treat System Expansion to the Playa 2 Area at Pantex.

LATA Awarded NEPA Work: LATA is supporting the preparation of a NEPA environmental impact statement (EIS) for construction and demonstration of a prototype advanced mobile nuclear microreactor (Prototype Microreactor) at Idaho National Laboratory in support of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The deployed prototype microreactor will be a small advanced gas reactor using high-assay low enriched uranium tristructural isotropic (TRISO) fuel that allows for an inherently safe prototype microreactor. LATA’s scope includes a variety of technical analyses and support activities to complete the required NEPA EIS over a 20-month period.
