

Barry Nelson is LATA’s Vice President, Department of Defense Operations. He is a Professional Geologist in the states of Pennsylvania, Indiana, Tennessee, and Kentucky. He serves as a Program Manager and Senior Project Manager for LATA with extensive experience managing large environmental programs, environmental investigations, brownfield remediation and restoration, groundwater and soil remediation, and regulatory compliance projects for federal, municipal, and commercial clients. His program management history includes large high-profile multidisciplinary projects for the Air Force Civil Engineer Center, U.S. Department of Energy, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), and U.S. Army Environmental Center. Mr. Nelson has over 15 years of environmental program management of successful projects ranging in approximate cost from $10k to $30M. Mr. Nelson is knowledgeable in CERCLA, RCRA, TCEQ Corrective Action under TRRP, and Ohio’s solid waste and voluntary action program regulations. Mr. Nelson is also experienced in managing fixed price, performance-based contracts and business development for federal, municipal, and commercial clients.
He is currently Program Manager for LATA’s USACE Tulsa District TX-LA Optimized Remediation Contract and USACE Kansas City District Regional Response Actions contract and Project Manager for LATA’s participation in the USACE Louisville District Great Lakes Region ORC and the AFCEC Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) Environmental Construction and Optimization Services (BECOS) contract.
Mr. Nelson has an MS in Geology from Bowling Green State University and a BS in Geology from Marietta College.
