Management & Operations

LATA’s expertise includes managing and operating high hazard nuclear facilities and projects throughout the DOE Complex. The company has been entrusted with the safe management and regulatory compliance of facilities such as the plutonium metallurgical laboratory and the uranium, beryllium, and non-nuclear production facilities at Rocky Flats, as well as former tritium production facilities at Mound.

LATA has managed nuclear operations at both of DOE’s Gaseous Diffusion Plants (GDPs) at Portsmouth and Paducah. LATA’s wholly-owned subsidiary LATA/Parallax-Portsmouth (LPP) was responsible for all environmental remediation activities on the 3,780-acre Portsmouth GDP site from June 2005 through March 2011. In addition to these responsibilities, LATA managed and operated six nuclear facilities and was responsible for nuclear safety, radiological control, facility decommissioning and removal, soil remediation, uranium materials disposition, and radiological and hazardous waste disposition.

LATA Environmental Services of Kentucky, a wholly-owned subsidiary of LATA, is currently the prime environmental remediation contractor at the DOE Paducah GDP. LATA has overall responsibility for remediation and disposition of land sites, groundwater, and surface water including D&D of contaminated facilities, operation of site waste storage facilities and landfills, and disposition of project wastes. In particular, LATA Kentucky is performing all activities necessary to perform structural demolition of remaining structures down to the slab for Sectors I through VIII within the C-410/420 Complex, a Hazard Category 2 Nuclear Facility with external criticality concerns.

Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant LATA has both the demonstrated technical expertise and the management systems, structure, and experience required to manage and operate multifaceted nuclear facilities and projects within complex regulatory frameworks and in full compliance with requirements for safety, contractor assurance, and project control. Our sophisticated business management and accounting systems are approved by DCAA for performance based, cost reimbursable, fixed price and time and materials contracts and are used to successfully manage an average annual revenue volume greater than $100M on time and on budget. LATA is committed to identifying and executing innovative solutions to nuclear management and operations challenges that produce cost savings for our customers.
