LATA has an extensive history providing engineering and management services for nuclear facilities, including development of innovative methods for complex technical challenges associated with facility and system design and modification, D&D, purification and separation of material, and treatment, stabilization, packaging, and characterization of waste for final disposition. We are experts in processing and handling operations involving plutonium, uranium, and tritium, and have supported dissolution and molten salt extraction, ion exchange, feed evaporation, precipitation, calcination, reduction, wet and dry chemistry, and caustic waste treatment. We have led or participated in the design and startup of first-of-a-kind technologies and facilities in support of National Laboratory missions at Los Alamos, Lawrence Livermore, and Sandia, as well as strategic missions at Hanford, Oak Ridge, Nevada Test Site, and Rocky Flats. Our nuclear facility engineering services encompass:

  • Mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and controls, chemical, nuclear, civil, structural, safety, environmental, fire protection, and value engineering

  • Engineering design and construction management
  • Structural design and stress analysis
  • Seismic qualification of equipment and structures

LATA has provided Title I, II, and III engineering services for the redesign of individual nuclear materials process lines, including repair, modification, upgrade, and operations. LATA engineers and designers have prepared design drawings; project, process, instrumentation, and construction descriptions; detailed construction and demolition cost estimates; engineering calculations; construction, equipment, component procurement specifications; instrument indexes; vendor catalog information; project schedules; and drawing lists. Today, LATA’s nuclear facility design engineering center in Richland, WA is a licensed WA State Engineering Service company.
