Mike Kennicott has served as LATA’s Chief Operating Officer since 2016. He is a Registered Environmental Manager (REM), a Certified Project Management Professional and a 6 Sigma Green Belt. Immediately prior to becoming COO, Mike led LATA’s Corporate Support Team responsible for cost, schedule, and technical reviews for all of LATA’s fixed price bids and projects and managed all of LATA’s operational units allowing for consistent focus across all projects, safe delivery of services to our clients and sharing of lessons learned across LATA.

Mike has nearly four decades of project and operations management experience, including numerous technically and logistically challenging D&D, characterization, remediation and waste management efforts subject to DOE, DOT, EPA, and federal, state and local regulatory requirements. He has served DOE clients since 1990 at the Portsmouth and Paducah sites, the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Los Alamos National Laboratory, and Rocky Flats.

Prior to joining LATA, Mike was a member of the LANL TRU restart team following Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) shipment shut-down, served as Vice President and Operations Manager for Eberline Services, was President of Benchmark Environmental and served as Director, Los Alamos Operations for N.P. Energy, Inc.

Mike is valued for his knowledge and experience related to nuclear operations and cradle-to-grave waste management (radioactive and nonradioactive). He has been recognized for his work including receiving the National Registry of Environmental Professionals (NREP) Environmental Project Award, the Secretary of Energy Certificate of Appreciation, a DOE EM-31 Waste Minimization Award, the Colorado Center for Environmental Excellence Award, the U.S. Army Meritorious Service Medal, and the U.S. Army Commendation Medal.
